Welcome to ArteDeum Hardware,  a family-driven business built on hard work, dedication, and the dream of creating something bigger for the future.

ArteDeum was founded in 2021 by Eben Strydom as a part-time side hustle while working a full-time career spanning nearly 19 years. Eben started his journey in the electrical industry in his mid-20s, beginning with electrical installations before moving into draughting and eventually becoming the buyer for the company he worked for. Through years of experience, he gained extensive knowledge of tools, consumables, workshop requirements, and customer needs.

What began as a small woodworking idea quickly evolved into something far greater. While woodworking sparked the original vision, it became clear that the real opportunity was in supplying workshops, businesses, and individuals with the tools and consumables they rely on every day. ArteDeum was then shaped into a company focused on providing everything a workshop needs from power tools and hand tools to consumables and general hardware supplies

Behind the scenes, ArteDeum is truly a family effort. Eben’s wife, Riana Strydom, serves as the company’s Financial Director, helping guide and support the business as it continues to grow. Together with their twin boys, Aidan and Damian, the family built ArteDeum with the goal of creating a better future and a business that values people, relationships, and service.

One of the biggest turning points in the company’s journey came when Eben made the difficult decision to leave behind the security of his long-term career after realizing he had become “just another number.” Taking that leap of faith allowed ArteDeum to grow into the company it is today a business built on passion, commitment, and the determination to serve customers properly.

ArteDeum’s growth would not have been possible without the support of a remarkable individual who believed in the vision from the very beginning and helped make the startup possible. That support laid the foundation for the business to grow year after year.
